THIS IS THE BLOG/DIARY FOR MIGHTY GIRL ART™! OUR NEW WEBSITE IS LOCATED HERE! * The purpose of our documentation is to provide a window into the creative process and the interactions within our circle. It keeps the memory of our work together alive and offers a touchstone to revisit later for further reflection by the facilitators, the parents and the children.

Women are the primary resource of the planet. They give birth, we come from them. They are mothers, they are visionaries, they are the future. If we can figure out how to make women feel safe and honor women, it would be parallel or equal to honoring life itself."
Mighty Girl Art returned to Maker Faire again! The team engaged our guests in creating whimsical
paper leaves for a site
specific installation entitled The Tree of Compassion. Each leaf was
hand crafted, painted by our visitor. Upon these leaves they wrote a few
words of compassion before hanging it upon the tree.
Picasso said that art washes away from the soul, the dust of everyday life. Yesterday we blew through at least 400 - 500 pieces of paper and most people only made one print. That's a lot of dust free souls! Last night I cleaned all the brayers and stencils before I hit my fatigue-wall and left the printmaking trays soaking in my bathtub overnight. Today I will finish the arduous task of post faire clean-up in the art studio aka "Makery". I would like to thank Chelsea and the Mighty Girls for all their hard work. I would like to thank Gelli Arts - Gel Printing Plate for creating such a terrific printing plate and for sponsoring our giveaway. I would also like to thank all the organizers and volunteers of NoVa Mini Maker Faire for creating such a wondrous event!

Maker Faire is an event organized
by the well know DIY magazine "Make Magazine". Maker Faire has been dubbed the
Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of
invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the
Maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making,
and share what they are learning.
*Also this is an open call for 4 Mighty Girl Volunteers. Mighty Makers
will learn the behind the scenes workings of creative presentation from
set-up to clean-up: presenting themselves as makers and teaching their
craft to community, organization, teamwork, and networking with their
kindred makers. If your daughter is interested in this exciting and fun
opportunity please message me asap.
