Women are the primary resource of the planet. They give birth, we come from them. They are mothers, they are visionaries, they are the future. If we can figure out how to make women feel safe and honor women, it would be parallel or equal to honoring life itself."

Week One : Sacred Gifts

May you experience each day as a sacred gift.
- John O'Donohue

The sun is just beginning to rise.  The sky, so filled with moisture, is white like the snow of the coming season.  I am quietly sipping my morning brew, coffee spiced with cinnamon and cloves.   I sit in my workshop beneath the shaded string lights and admire the peaceful warm glow.  Soon I will carry wood to the fire pit, fill the kettle, and greet the Mighty Girls.

One by one they arrive and get reacquainted.  We fill our cups with hot cocoa and chat about all manner of things.   Once we all settle in, we begin our first project...

Loom Knit Scarves!

These wonderful Zippy Looms were donated to Mighty Girl Art by the generous folks at KB.  What makes them so wonderful?  Well...for one thing, it makes knitting fast and easy.  Another cool feature is that the looms clip together for larger projects like blankets.

Zippy Loom makes scarf making so fast that you can make holiday gifts for all your friends.  How about making scarves for the local homeless shelter?!?!

Thank you, KB...the girls are absolutely thrilled with their scarves!

After we finished our scarves we had to dodge the raindrops to make our s'mores, but rain doesn't stop us because...S'MORES!

Girls, don't forget that Mighty Girl Art will at Barnes & Noble in Fairfax tomorrow at 1pm for their Mini Maker Faire.  We're making mono prints.  There are giveaways for the early birds, so come on down and bring your friends!!!

See you next Saturday!

Made so & rooted by love,
Wendy
