Women are the primary resource of the planet. They give birth, we come from them. They are mothers, they are visionaries, they are the future. If we can figure out how to make women feel safe and honor women, it would be parallel or equal to honoring life itself."

- Eve Ensler

Punctual Snow

And still the pensive spring returns,
And still the punctual snow! - Emily Dickinson

Early this morning while the sun was still rising, I began to prepare for the girls' arrival.

Today is the day we begin work on our canvas.

I took some time to admire the cups that they designed, so rich with symbolism, so magical.

When the girls arrived we sipped hot cocoa...

then we bundled up and headed into the woods for our nature walk.

Refreshed and recharged, we returned to the studio to begin working on our canvases.

The girls removed the paper pulp to reveal their images.  Our theme for our canvas is giving.  What are our gifts?  How can we share our gifts with the world?

They embellished the canvas, with paint and collage.

Inspiration moves in mysterious ways, suddenly the girls began to sing and it was angelic!

We sought wisdom from the "Guide for Advanced Souls"....

then we decided to do a quick releasing ceremony before the Thanksgiving break.  Each girl wrote down a grief that she wished to let go of then tossed the paper into the fire.  We celebrated with S'mores.

here we howl! - Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, PhD

Have a wonderful holiday, girls!

See you in two weeks...

Wondrous Journeys

imagine! imagine!
the long and wondrous journeys
still to be ours.”

- Mary Oliver

Today was wet and dreary so we sipped our hot cocoa then finished our weaving journey with owl.

We prepped our canvas for next week then began painting our cups with symbols, poetry and quotes.  The cup has special meaning to the one creating it.  The cup is thought to be a metaphorical symbol for enlightenment a/o nourishing the spirit.  We will reflect on that while sipping our hot cocoa next week.  What are some ways we can nourish our spirit this winter?

We finished the session with a quick and easy project - wintry bloom hair pins!

Later, some of the girls drew spirit animals on the table paper which they decided to use as gift wrap!

Our morning complete, we celebrated with S'mores.

A quick yet heartfelt shout out to Mighty Mom Laureen: Thank you for this magical gift - I treasure it!

See you next week, girls!  We'll begin working on our canvases...and you are going to LOVE it!
