Women are the primary resource of the planet. They give birth, we come from them. They are mothers, they are visionaries, they are the future. If we can figure out how to make women feel safe and honor women, it would be parallel or equal to honoring life itself."

- Eve Ensler

Mighty Girl Sadie-Bug

"I am both of the earth
and of the inexplicable beauty of heaven
where I fly so easily, so welcome, yes.
And this is why I have been sent
to teach it to your heart"

- Mary Oliver

For Sadie from mighty girl art on Vimeo.

It was an honor of facilitating a private Mighty Girl Art session for the mighty Sadie-Bug Murata and her lovely friends!

Take a moment and visit the links below to learn more about Sadie:

For our first project, the girls painted a sky onto canvas board.  Next they used a paper punch to cut butterfly shapes from assorted colorful paper.  They wrote messages upon the wings, then exchanged them with one another before gluing them to the canvas.

For our second project, the girls created touchstones from translucent FIMO clay.  After the clay is baked in the oven, it resembles sea glass.  The girls formed a heart shape with the clay.  Upon the heart they placed their fingerprint beside that of their friend Sadie.  This is a great project to do with your parent or best friend or even a pet.

We ended our day with ceremony.  We released 1500 ladybugs into the meadow while we recited the above excerpt from Mary Oliver's poem.

Made so & rooted by love,
Wendy
