Women are the primary resource of the planet. They give birth, we come from them. They are mothers, they are visionaries, they are the future. If we can figure out how to make women feel safe and honor women, it would be parallel or equal to honoring life itself."

Day Five: Astonishing Light

I wish I could show you
when you are lonely or in darkness
the astonishing light of your own being.  - Hafiz

We all wondered what creature would visit our tipi on our last day.  Today it was Woodpecker!

Woodpecker is the drummer of the forest.  Woodpecker is a totem of determination and rhythm.  Woodpecker reminds us to notice our natural rhythm, to march to the beat of our own drum.

We began the day with our morning gift.

Today's gift came from Hum-fi Hummingbird Feeders!

Hum-Fi is the brilliant creation of Lisa Durante.  Hum-Fi feeders provide an opportunity to connect with nature in a most beautiful and delightful way, by allowing hummingbirds to eat from your hand!!!

I know the girls will enjoy their encounters this summer and many more to come!

Thank you, Hum-fi, for your generosity and support!

After the excitement of morning gift, we put the final touches on our journals.  We explored 3 different types of image transfers.

Soon the moms would be arriving for our closing ceremony, so we moved straight away into our final project for the week.  This is a project we generally offer in the Wintry Workshop, but I had a request for it this summer...

Wishing Candles.  These candles are traditionally used as prayer candles in churches and altars of many faiths and are used for many purposes.  We decided to use them to light the path toward our dreams and hopes.  We used our transfer images and paint markers to decorate them.

Shortly thereafter, Mothers, grandmothers and sisters arrived for our closing ceremony and celebration.  There was pizza and champagne grapes for all!

Special thanks to Ledo Pizza for the super generous discount on the pies.  Mighty Girl Art is so very grateful for delicious support!!!

Dear Mighty Moms,
Thank you for blessing me with the gift of your amazing daughters.  They are precious, creative and soulful beings.  It was an honor to assist them on their creative journey.  I hope that you will explore some of some of the techniques with your daughter - let her inspire you - perhaps in a mother & daughter journal.

Dear Mighty Girls,
Your light is bright and it is an honor to bask in your glow.  Thank you for blessing me with your presence and for allowing me to witness your creative process and your sense of wonder.  Although I will miss you all very much, my heart is overflowing with gratitude for the week we spent together.  Also, know that my studio door and my heart will always be open to you.  If you find yourself in my neck of the woods, please stop by.  You are always welcome.  If you need help with any of the techniques that you learned, your mom knows how to reach me and I will be happy to help.

I hope to see you at the Wintry Workshop...dates to be announced soon!

I would also like to thank Chelsea for everything she does to make our camp run smoothly, and to all the Mighty Girls for pitching in to lend a hand.

Made so & rooted by love,
Wendy

PS - Please support the people who help make Mighty Girl Art so special.  It is our joy to introduce you to consciously made products created by real people.  Each one of our sponsors is a testament to creativity, artistic vision, beautiful craftsmanship and manifesting a dream.  We teach our children that we all have unique gifts to share with the word, that we have a purpose and our own path to follow.  We believe that our sponsors are a good example of what is possible when one masters their craft and turns their dream into a reality.  We are humbled by and grateful for their generosity!
